With over 25 years of teaching experience at university, public and private schools, Stinar specializes in operatic and musical theater techniques for singers, actors and dancers. Stinar's methodology combines the best that "speech level singing" and the classical "bel canto" singing techniques have to offer. Through his voice studio in Denver, he offers private singing lessons, master classes, and recitals. Stinar strives to realize each student's full vocal and artistic potential as a unique singer and actor. Stinar's students have been accepted to prominent music schools and summer programs across the country and they have developed successful careers having performed from Broadway to the regional stages. Recently one of Stinar's students was even nominated for a Grammy. Stinar's former students are now attending such prestigious schools as the San Francisco Conservatory, NYU (Tisch and Cap21), Berklee School of Music, Julliard, Eastman, Cincinnati Conservatory, Boston Conservatory, New England Conservatory, Roosevelt, University of Denver, Cal Arts, Point Park University, CU Boulder, University of the Arts, AMDA,and the University of Oklahoma. Stinar is also a proud member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing.

Biography
A native of Estherville, Iowa, tenor Brian Stinar has received critical acclaim for his "powerful vocal artistry" and his "engaging stage presence". He is an artist whose vocal prowess is matched by his theatrical sensitivity and dynamic stage personality. He has sung over 30 leading roles nationwide including Rodolfo in La Bohème, Roméo in Roméo et Juliette, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, and Gounod's Faust. His most recent appearances have included roles of Alfredo in La Traviata and Tamino in Die Zauberflote with Oklahoma Opera Theater, Don José in Carmen with Opera Theater of the Rockies, Canio in I Pagliacci and Manrico in Il Trovatore with Opera Fort Collins, Rossini's Stabat Mater with the Greeley Chorale, Verdi's Requiem with the Arapahoe Philharmonic, and the role of Don José in Opera Idaho's production of Carmen. Stinar is an Artist in Residence with Denver School of the Arts and holds his Master's degree from the University of Oklahoma where he is a Hoving and Benton-Schmidt Scholar and studied in the studio of Salvatore Champagne. Equally at home on the concert stage, Stinar is heard in many pops concerts and oratorios ranging from Handel's Messiah to Verdi's Requiem. In Stinar’s early training he also performed Normanno in Lucia di Lammermoor as a member of the Apprentice Artist Program for Singers with the Santa Fe Opera and was a finalist in the International Meistersinger Competition and toured in five orchestral concerts during his studies in Graz, Austria with the American Institute of Musical Studies. Stinar is also a proud alumni of both Waldorf and Wartburg Colleges. The Pikes Peak Arts Council awarded Stinar the "Best Solo Classical Music Performance" for his role as Calaf in Turandot with the Opera Theatre of the Rockies & recently performed the Prince in Dvorak’s Rusalka with Oklahoma Opera Theater.
What should I expect in lessons?
You will learn in a supportive and positive environment with an experienced teacher and performer. Lessons will provide practical ways to apply solid vocal principles to the daily use of your voice. Each vocal exercise is specifically chosen to help nurture a healthy singing technique. The goal of technique is to find the most true, free and resonant tone of which each particular voice is capable.
Mr. Stinar also has extensive acting and stage experience through his years of performing. He has honed his music and acting skills teaching “Acting for Opera” courses, directing annual musicals and opera scenes, and preparing and coaching countless recitals and college auditions. His talents were recognized as the Bobby G recipient for Outstanding Musical Direction for Hairspray at Denver Scool of the Arts! Spring Awakening and Urinetown, of which he directed musically, were also chosen for performance at the Annual Thespian Nationals at the Univ. of Nebraska, Lincoln.
Lessons are offered in-person in Centennial, CO.
Students are accepted through consultation/audition
or professional recommendation.
Studio registration occurs on a Term Basis.
